I'm just figuring out how blogs work... this is the link the to reddit page.  I can't put the story in both places because I'll get confused and change both stories and... anyways it gets messy.

This is a Hobby:

Notes:

Luckily it would take at least two years to production because there seems to be a lot of water based competition right now.... lol.

No matter how I look at it, Est was born to play a merman. WilliamEst are destined to be in a mermaid movie. I'll finish this story no matter what! Also I have to clean this up and start a new wall at this point... it's just a damn mess. Still, should it be the little mermaid?

Fish pretend to know nothing about humans? (careful abo desire).

Should include some kind of sea witch? Legs because dry land or because special help?

Mermaids actually own several businesses?

Clean up, start new wall....

In the event that my account is banned I plan to post this outline here on my website https://earth2bob.com/ . It's not on the website right now, nor is the website finished... but in the event that my account is banned before I put it up I thought I should post the link because I can't after.

I did this thing, which I'm not supposed to do where I started a new summary and now I don't know where it is.... it's the opening to fix some of the plot probelms I've been talking about. OMG now what? This is why I fail at things... should I find it and start a new reddit thread or do it here and delete the other stuff?

I’m combining Splash and Overboard to make a WilliamEst drama plot mock-up for reasons that started with a hypothetical argument I made.  I might think the plot is still dumb but then I come up with small ideas to overcome problems and want to try them out.

Splash – Mermaid with no personality comes ashore to spend 6 days with the human she loves but then gets exposed and kidnapped by scientists, then she and human return to ocean

Overboard – rich, spoiled, petty, woman or man falls off boat and gets amnesia, ends up in indentured servitude to man he/she previously cheated and they fall in love (Overboard: the Original; Overboard the kdrama “Couple of Fantasy”; Overboard: the Reboot)

I'm changing the title from "Splash Overboard" to "FishLove", because it's funny and less letters. Also this reason: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMcHtSjtNBY (everyone watch the clip)

Fish fade away after hurting Love and losing his love... this would balance second half, lie to Love about it.

Plot:

FISHLOVE

0. Pre-Intro -

Story of Suvannamaccha, the "Golden Mermaid" told in voice over during credits.

0A. Open on boy falling in water filmed from under the water. The credits will first show a small story about Suvannamacha (SV), then end with clear blue water filmed from underneath so (ideally) the sunlight comes through and then you see a body falling in... probably this should be filmed from near to below the surface because I would like to see the splash from underneath.

(song choices from films: Overboard 1 or Splash 1, but neither might work with the SV theme)

body falling into water immediately transitions to mermaid?

Intro -

Rich and terrible husband who is played by William and named “Love” and wife/husband Joanna (Jo) are planning a scientific mermaid hunting expedition. Love believes mermaids are real because he was rescued by one as a child.

1A. Fish rescues Love as a child

From Fish Pov as a child? He and his friends venture farther out from the merkingdom than they are supposed. It's night. They stop some distance from a bunch of boats. They tell each other stories about scary things that happen to mermaids who tangle with humans.  "I hear they eat you". "If you fall in love with one you'll be lured onto land and die". "If you kiss a human your gills will fall off" and so on.

Suddenly, a boy falls off one of the boats (there can be just one boat but it's better if there are many boats) and Fish goes to save him while his friends try to discourage him.  But Fish must help. He swims very quickly (super-fast swimmers) to the boy and rescues him by giving him air underwater and then push/pulling him towards the surface so he can be rescued.

"What happened?"

"Did they see you?"

"Did he die?"

"He was drowning, so I gave him air"

Everyone looks at him like he's going to die. "You can't do that!", "You know what they say about humans", "Are you going to die now?", everyone checks to see if he's dying.

"He's going to tell everyone!".  “What if he does?” Fish replies.  “Nobody will believe him anyways”; and they all swim away.

This would normally transition to Love trying to convince someone that mermaids are real and nobody believing him...

1B. I guess we're returning immediately to Fish Pov as adult?

1C. Love believes in Mermaids

Love insists that he was rescued by a mermaid boy, but nobody believes him; they think the fall off the boat made him weird, stupid, or crazy and try several “treatments” to “fix” him before giving up.  They refused to teach him to swim or let him near water lest it encourage his “delusions”.  His family didn’t disown him, but they mostly disowned him except for his one loyal brother (John Candy character in Splash).

When Jo didn’t give him a hard time about his belief in mermaids he became willing to commit to her hoping for the best, a real family again maybe; however, nothing he ever did seemed to please Jo enough; there personalities are very different, and he’s not attracted to Jo at all… after a lot of years of trying they have not been behaving like the best of themselves.  As an adult Love runs his wife’s business, is slightly too lax with his employees, but Jo treats him like he’s an idiot who’s going to die the moment she leaves the room.

He’s going to prove mermaids are real and everyone will see he’s not crazy; and he just knows that he’s destined to meet Fish again (this is the opposite of Tom in Splash who is jaded)

1C. Jo is an Ice Queen

I keep trying to make Jo into a mermaid princess but it just doesn’t work with the storyline I’ve got so far.  Stories should make sense.

Jo’s family died when she was young.  She was then raised by a series of indifferent tutors and staff who constantly held her to an impossible standard in the name of her dead family.  As a result she turned into a lonely, overly critical ice queen.  She is mildly autistic and can’t gets upset when hit with sensory overload – she will just start ordering people about to make whatever is upsetting her stop.

Jo loves Love, but is not in love with Love.  Love has never been attracted to her and he’s too nice and he believes in fairies.

She’s completely sure that the moment she walks out of any room he’s in he’s going to immediately be overrun by ill-meaning servants and then immediately be swindled by bandits and die. Jo doesn’t think she’s mean, she’s just honest and won’t lie to people pretending everything is great just to make them happy all the time… nobody was ever that nice to her except for Love and he’s an idiot (in her eyes – because he’s kind to her and servants who are actually slacking off and the homeless and everyone – like an idiot).  She has that type of abandonment syndrome where she’s mean to people she likes because she thinks they will abandon her.

1D. LoveJo are Hunting Mermaids

LoveJo are partnering with a sunblock company to fund a mermaid hunting expedition.  By some miracle they met someone as crazy as Love who also believes in mermaids? And is interested in the idea that they are immune to UV radiation and that they hold the secret to ending … that problem or selling more sunblock. (do I need this as a plot point?)

1E. Fish is a Mermaid Spy

Fish is a mermaid who broke the rules as a child and fell in love with the human he saved. He’s never taken a partner. Fish has studied humans his whole life because he knows Love is his destiny, Fish grows up and becomes a military scout, scouting threats on land.  After being in the military for a few years Fish has become more jaded towards humans. Fish has more personality than just being in love with Love – but I don’t know what that is yet because Est is an introvert and Madison from Splash has no personality beyond loving Tom.

1F. Fish infiltrates the Mermaid Hunting Thing

Fish and other spies swim ashore to a remote location and then go to a monastery that has an ancient relationship with his people.  There they get clothing and supplies (they don’t need to go to a monastery, they can just hide them somewhere too – they even have fake ids and money). Then they go to infiltrate the company planning thing.

Does Fish immediately recognize Love?  They are adults now and would have been children before but mermaids are geniuses so? (Suddenly Fish recognize Love as the boy he save as a child? – maybe later with help?)

* ( - beware make sure you're not copying your concepts from your other work! (*check have a nice day)************ also check - 1920s spy/smuggling story - don't copy your other work - *if feature spying lightly here maybe ok?  Am I just wasting time with this because it’s a failure?

2. Jo Encounters Carp Somehow

*(check how to intro carp in first ep if can't cheat him yet)

3. Return to MerKingdom

Fish and other merpersons return to merkingdom and encounter Mer, a young merperson who has never been to land because he is too young. They all discuss the human threat.  Everyone in who knows Fish knows that he’s in love with Love and feel sorry for him but try to be polite about it.  They know he joined the military scouts so he could try to hunt for Love on land.  They tells sad legends about mermaids being ensnared by the “human song” (implied bad endings similar to little mermaids or being mounted on a wall).  They all sort of look at him like he has a disease and they feel sorry for him, but they try to be nice and supportive anyways.

4. Jo Cheats Carp

Somehow in relation to the mermaid expedition Joanna cheats a laborer named Carpenter (Carp) out of money by accident after they got into an argument. Carpenter tells Joanna that no man would want her and Joanna pushes him (could be a girl though) off boat with his tools (*don't let too many people fall off boats).

Joanna then tries to seduce Love to prove a man would want her. For Love, this is the last straw. Love wants a divorce. Jo is old enough to lead his/her own life. However, Joanna won't let him leave because he is her only family even though they both don't love each other that way.

4A. Carp has Kids

cut scene to whatever's happening in Carp life and him complaining about Jo... his nephews, his brother, etc.

Finding a Mermaid Island, Mermaids Cause Storm

LoveJo arrives at the mermaid island (placeholder name/location).

During the mermaid hunting expedition they find a real mermaid waters somehow...

Mermaids use ... mermaid powers? to call up a storm to protect themselves (this is good - is this plagarism? or am i thinking of myths where mermaids caused storms? original idea? didn't king trident cause a rainbow with his trident in the little mermaid?)

5. Overboard

(option A) Joanna is washed overboard and Love thinks she has died and, or lost and stops hunting mermaids to grieve/search for her

Or

(option B) Ship gets destroyed by mermaid storm - as per legends and every ocean movie ever made, maybe this is why I don't like it....

Fish saves LoveJo. He deposits Love somewhere and takes Jo somewhere else, but makes sure she's alive before he dumps her. She has amnesia. Love doesn't know. (and after Fish rescues Love (is it stupid if he rescues both of them...?)

*(notes about this - Jo still gets washed overboard... theoretically a mermaid could save her and dump her on land... ok... if Fish save Jo... ok, I just had a funny idea...it is supposed to be a comedy... what if... both LoveJo fall off in a storm and Fish save Jo but take her to a different shore because he's jealous *and then Fish save both of them, but dumps Jo on a far shore because he is jealous?

**(Fish dumps Joanna wherever Carp is and she has amnesia (is this still stupid?))

***(I feel like fan girls would like this... so then he would have to begrudgingly help Love find her, but it would be easy because he knows where she vaguely because he personally dumped her there... at first he distract will from finding Jo but then give in when he sees Love’s deep worry... [ok, maybe these are not perfect people, maybe these people are not as noble as the people they've been in other stories])

Or

(option c) Love is going to fall overboard but Jo saves him falling in him/herself and making Love feel really guilty about it

Or

(option d) Mermaid kidnapping plot where someone kidnaps a mermaid and in relation to that Jo falls overboard (they could still both fall overboard with the kidnap mermaid plot... that's 3 people already overboard at 1/3 of the plot -it's 4, it's 4 people because Love falls off when child. People falling off the boat: Love as child, Carp, Jo, maybe Love again - too many people falling off boats)

Or

(option f) Both storm and kidnapping somehow (this is a lot going on) and people falling overboard (too much happening?)

6. Possible Mermaid Kidnapping?

Maybe someone who works for LoveJo sneaks away with Mer (the merperson) after they all recover from the storm (if there is one)

* See, I feel like something is missing here even though it sort of works as a plot... I kind of want to have Joanna and Love science team kidnap a mermaid and have Fish come looking for the kidnapped mermaid who escaped on their own anyways... but... I don't know if I like Joanna and Love being kidnappers. I could have a scientist who is not them do it and not tell them about it...

* (I swear this is the plot of psyrens *look up).

Love or Jo or LoveJo could end up in the water as a result of the kidnapping and not the storm... have to make some choices about what's happening in this section of the story.

IF Anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them. Do you think it would be fun if the mermaids caused a storm and, or LoveJo employee kidnapped Mer? Who should go overboard?

7. Jo is picked up by Carp

Jo washed up or was deposited back on the shore where she cheated Carp back in paragraph 3. Jo has amnesia and is taken to the hospital. Carp finds out Jo is at the hospital and doesn't remember anything and so takes her home to make her cook and clean for him and his 3 - 6 children/nephews to pay back him back for the money she cheated him out of in paragraph 3. Carp tells Jo that Jo is either his husband/wife, his live in housekeeper, or his lover (don't know which works best in this context yet)

8. Fish shows up for Love

*(in Splash she arrives naked at the statute of liberty... not sure I want a born yesterday to genius in this one. In Splash Tom is called to the hospital because Madison has his wallet)

Fish arrives on shore and travels to Love company. Love is grieving, enjoying his new freedom, feeling guilty about that, trying to find out if Jo is still alive, and so on. (In Splash Tom pick up Madison from hospital and she just throws herself at him sexually, I feel like these people are too young in their career for that sort of plot and it won't land super well with the fan base and make it less kid friendly which kids want to watch mermaid shows so I'll probably give them some type of more meaningful interaction than this... but I'll figure it out later since I just wrote this note here on this run through)

*(how would Fish get cloths - this makes the spy thing work better because in ep 1 could show a storage location of somewhere that they keep basic land supplies - i honestly like the spy thing but I also think I'm just copying the plot of the other 1920's smuggler plot idea I had... fml........................... try to think of solution later)

Meanwhile Love is juggling his new freedom with the guilt he feels about Joanna and trying to find out if khao is still alive. This is where Fish shows up and seduces Love. .....

Fish shows up pretending to be a human and seducing Love (*this is the plot of Ivy – chang this part). Fish is actually looking for the kidnapped merperson.

8A. Mer escapes or Fish helps Mer escape

Mer escapes or Fish breaks Mer out / helps break Mer out (where is the scientist who kidnapped them all this time - this is pretty dark as even in the original splash the scientist did not kidnap her per se....)

Fish figures out during this time that Love did not know Mer was kidnapped by his organization and also learns that Love is not the type to do that (the spy plot is at odds with the fell in love as children plot I just realized - why is this making me think of Pirates of the Caribbean?)

* need Mer to have meaningful interactions after this point if I'm going to include khao in the plot

* (The kidnapped mermaid has already escaped somehow and is now doing something interesting.... with someone. Fish figures out that Love doesn't know anything about the kidnapped mermaid. Fish and Love spy on Joanna and decide she's happy with Carpenter.)

8B. Mer sideplot problem

Maybe Mer escapes and *** goes to a temple on land where they help the merpeople because they are the religious people who sort of know they exist....Jo lives in the same village... the townspeople assume Mer is crazy because, since he's never been to land before he doesn't know human customs and exihibits the majority of weird behavior exhibited in Splash...

He could move in with CarpJo and Carp could make a joke about two for the price of one and MerJo could run around while Jo watched Mer run around and the townsfolk remark that they are the two town crazypeople

or

Mer could move into the monestary and they try to teach khao to be human and... same stuff with Joh just that Jo keeps running into Mer instead of living together

9. FishLove go Look for Jo

If I go with the version where Fish dumps Jo on a shore (because he's jealous - he's been in love with Love since they were kids and he saved Love when Love fell of the boat - [plot of Splash], Fish will already know where Jo is, but will give Love the runaround because Fish wants to keep Love for himself. However, after seeing Love's stress about Jo he eventually pretends to find Jo for Love.

Or

If Jo just washes up on her own FishLove find Jo by coincidence. * (I like the first one better because it's a more dynamic plot - better with less coincidences unless it's that type of movie maybe)

Either way:

During this time FishLove have meaningful interactions and fall in love.  Fish teaches Love to swim. (In the original Splash Tom can't swim, but then at the end of the movie he swims. It's really stupid and I wanted to fix it so I'm having Fish teach Love to swim as their relationship building activity. Also this makes sense because it's uniquely water based and the fans will love it probably. That said I'm not writing in fan service scenes like feeding each other, gross.)

Love does something of value for Fish. They both have flaws they overcome. I don't know what flaws Fish has yet. * (My god, when I think about he, so far he's sort of come across as the flawless man... does that mean I don't know enough about him? I can't do more research, I will actually die if I try to do anymore... oh well, I'll just figure it out later. FML... marketing... nvm)

10. Jo and Mer become friends?

Lost it, but somewhere I was writing about how Jo and Mer maybe become friends and how that could affect casting choices, but it would give Mer something to do after escaping..... maybe its' in here somewhere and I forgot about it... check.

11. JoCarp tries to expose Fish

Joanna and Carpenter meanwhile need money and are offered a bunch of money from a scientist to prove that Fish is a mermaid. So they start hunting FishLove down throwing water on them trying to prove Fish is a mermaid. This leads to several hysterical situations where they throw water on the wrong people and have to get away. I think it would be hysterical if they keep accidentally throwing water on ZeeNew. I have no idea why but I think it would be a great cameo. In the actual Splash the scientist throws water on the same couple many times. Eventually they succeed and Fish turns into a mermaid in public and this is when Love sees and recognizes Joanna. Fish is taken by the govt... or maybe LoveJo company people?

12. Jo Remembers

who still doesn't have his/her memory. Joanna regain memory shortly after seeing Love. Carpenter and Joanna celebrate that they realized they are rich. Love and Fish are happy that Joanna has someone now and can let him go... and of course they've all become slightly better people through their happy relationships as the story goes. Kidnapped merperson arrives with whomever they were traveling with.

13. Rescue Fish

They all join forces to rescue Fish.

Chased by scientist people. Which is funny because it's their company. Fish has to return to the ocean and Love goes with him. Joanna and Carpenter and the many sons inherit everything. Happy Ending Yay. Rainbow.

&Extra Notes for Me

Stupid things to keep track of:

ok, have to have budget restrictions lets be realistic

* Be Careful About People Falling Off Boats! (also too many people falling off boats... does every boat movie have someone falling off? .... it's prob ok if both Carp and Jo fall off because it feels like karma... but Jo could also save Love from falling of causing him guilt... or they could both fall off and Fish could save them both displaying his jealousy by rescuing Jo to a different shore [but still making sure she's ok because he's nice] - can only do one... prob impossible to do all... check later choose)

* do people just fall off boats in every boat movie? have i ever seen a boat movie where nobody fell off the boat? *OMG - now I've got 5 boat falls; Options 1 - both people fall overboard - is this stupid? - too many people falling overboardf

* From paragraph (1) notes - Mermaid spies show up at the (maybe) public announcement he's making about it (that would be embarrassing man - need something besides a public announcement) and have a conversation about how dangerous Love's science expedition is to mermaids at large - can have this discussion in the merkindom? with Mer? - need to include Mer in ep 1 somehow... maybe this plot just doesn't hold up at all...

During the mermaid expedition they find mermaids leading to a fight with mermaids and the boat is destroyed and Love is rescued by a mermaid while Joanna is picked up on another shore with memory loss - this is stupid, no matter how many times I look at it I think it's stupid for them both to get washed overboard and end up in weird situations - maybe its fine

*Love has to contribute to Fish in some way, not just one way around

*Can show Mer learning human language in a day to demonstrate that merpeople are geniuses. - still want more mermaid characters

*(fund a scientific mermaid hunting expedition (this all has to be first episode because Fish must be included... unless I make him be a mermaid spy who is on land in the first or however many episodes are needed because they already know somewhat of what is going on. that would give me some leeway on the ocean voyage [used to be paragraph 3)

* Paragraph (3 - Jo cheats Carp): All the Notes

Timing of CarpJo fall off boat and travel to mermaid island

(this has to happen right before the mermaid finding/battle for pacing reasons - maybe fixed by ocean voyage montage and cut scene to Carp life and nephews, etc).

There's a timing problem with pushing the laborer off the boat and the mermaid event starting and Jo trying to seduce Love - theoretically Jo seduce will same day she push Carp of boat, but it's not enough time to travel to mermaid waters from shore ... I could have Love say he wants a divorce... Jo refuses... time passes on the voyage but it's just a... montage of them avoiding each other and being alternatively critical or forgiving to the staff as they travel to the mermaid place. the voiyage can't be too long.

(Carp would [maybe not] have to be on expedition with them to make timing work but can't be because that would again be stupid..(i miss those shows where people wash up on islands together). have to find way for Carp and Jo to fight closer to time of mermaid event. *prob fixed with above cut scene

* Paragraph (4) Notes:

mermaid storm? [copy of little mermaid?]

*would the kids be mad because there isn't enough mermaid time in the mermaid series? I could add an underwater kingdom (was this in a wuxia) but that would mean adding more stuff... but i could add it when the merspies talk about the impending LoveJo expedition.

*Relevant side characters:

Love assistant in Kdrama overboard. 2) Jo friend in Kdrama overboard. 3) Scientist who throws water on Madison in Splash. 4) Carp brother in kdrama and, or coworkers in overboard reboot. 5) Love brother in Splash.

Personality Stuff:

*  Fish is a control freak who gets saddled with an unwanted merperson who he sends to spy on CarpJo to make sure Jo isn't threatening FishLove and help make CarpJo happen - could actually use merpower to make it snow if i'm giving them weather controlling ability anyways. Fish is very similar to Jo personality, but where Jo is straighforward Fish will just lie and manipulate people to get what he wants, making them all happier, but being totally false the whole time too. Also there will probably have to be storyilne where they rescue Fish and all four of them flee to mermaid island for awhile.. still figuring it out... a real plot is like a building you need a foundation and for it to all add up... instead of just... things randomly happening

* have to center from Fish perspective to deal with separation problem... going to have to be from mostly mermaid pov to shift that to the central story... not like there was a big reveal in the original anyways.

story stuff:

*brother and sister on a ship that sinks at see (12th night)... they wash up in a strange land... one disguises herself and becomes entangled with a man; the other one....

*so... they are on a boat, Jo is unhappy on the boat and Love is floating in the ocean (he can't, he can't swim) with his back in the water looking at the stars. They are yearning separately....

*something cliche like both seeing a shooting star (not a shooting star) and making a wish?

*conceptually it is the story of crossing a great distance for love

"spirit lead me where my trust is without borders... wherever you would call me... take me deeper than my feet could ever wander"

*does everyone want to be mermaids? who would want to be and who wouldn't... should I just have a bunch of mermaids on a mermaid island who act like normal people otherwise...?

* i want the image of two children who are lost at sea who are rescued by a mermaid, at night, under the stars (lot of stars in this story - lol, probably the song).

* am i just trying to write la boheme in space?

* love can't sing and is terrible at music (lmao).

*Mer also have crush on Jo in typical kdrama fashion, he doesn't get her go, he let her go. He takes Fish land spy job after Fish settled down with Love and give up the life. Mer used to beg to be allowed to go along on missions and brag about the day he would be a land spy. End with close up of Mer putting on sunglasses and strutting into town to upbeat music. (I never thought I would use this cliche, lol).

....the problem with stories is that they are like buildings that have to be built with structure... this is no the problem with stories, this is the structure of stories, the problem is people who don't know this make them not make sense because they lack structure.. so the house falls down... so... the problem with my story is the mermaid balance problem... i could probably get away with a kdrama mermaid kidnapping script at this point (kdrama in the sense that the plot is complicated and interconnected usually taking a turn somewhere in the middle)... i'm still not sure about the balance between the couples because a mermaid is only represented by 1/4 of the equation and if he already familiar with human society there no instance for comedy because of mistakes.....what if Love the one who have .... if i could just give Fish a real personality somehow... Splash is completely ... I mean... what is Madison personality in that movie? Beautiful is not a personality trait. Just be shallow and make Fish a ... no.

Ok... Madison personality - she like pirate ships and is nosy/curious/adventurous, she look around at everything and remember where it all is. She's a genius who can learn almost everything about human culture in a day and a half. In her culture people eat with their hands. They also eat the shells with their shellfish. She ... biology is not a personality trait. She met boy as a child fell in love and still loved him as an adult... is she a stalker or did they meet by coincidence? Did she tag him in some way so she can sense him whenever he's in water? When they were kids? How did she manage to save him both times? Did he even fall into the water in the same place or did she follow his boat when they were kids and knew where he lived? It seemed in the movie like she found him again because why else would she wait until then to come onto shore... this movie has so many plot holes...man I love this movie :(==

Ok.. so he somehow fell off the boat in the same place both times or the other plot option is that she tagged/followed him in some way... or by an extremely unbelievable twist of fate he fell off the boat once in one place and a second time in a different place 20 years later and she just happened to be there and rescue him both times (not occams razor). So... is Fish a person who marked or tagged Love in some way as children because again - control freak and incredibly stubborn? Why wait to find him then? Maybe he lost him and can only find him when he's within a certain distance of the tagging? And that's how he can recognize Love again but Love can't recognize Fish? this isn't terrible.... doesn't solve side couple problem... could Fish be Carp? and Love be Jo? and the other person just be a bad guy...? that would solve side couple problem except then do I have to put in a side couple? ... there are some dynamic problems here.... lots of them actually... I can't overcome the mermaid balance problem don't want to run into the Orlando Bloom Fairy problem.

Does Madison from Splash have a personality?

AI: Madison = attractive, eccentric, kindness, innocence, curiosity, naiveté, and adventurousness, pure, loving nature, wonder, and mysteriousness, no personal goals except to return to mermaid kingdom, no personal development

*... does go off to play when Tom is not around, likes clothes and watching tv and exercise, and trying new things, and sex... but honestly on vacation and mostly acting like on vacation so there's that.

*making her a "goodwill ambassador" for merfolk. Her reactions to the human world are a source of both humor and wonder, and a central part of the film's appeal

AI: Manic Pixie = attractive, eccentric, help man find self, or wonder, grow, embrace life, no personal arc, plot device to serve men goals

*does go off to play when Tom is not around, likes clothes and watching tv and exercise, and trying new things, and sex... but honestly on vacation and mostly acting like on vacation so there's that.

* Making Fish visit Love for the sake of protecting merfold is a bit of a problem for the other plotline idea i have for them which is far more enemies to lovers... this is supposed to be love at first sight.... but...... Maybe argue that the merfolk threat problem is solved (for time being) and does just go on vacay... him getting caught would also be stupid though if he's used to the human world? If we have a different character be the worldly one.. that would just the the beggining of the little mermaid right? naive mermaid swims up to human ship falls for human tracks human to land... also plot of Splash so... what to do about other plot... just not make this merperson worldly and make other merpson worldly who comes to get him? my brain hurts

I know I can't but I want Mer to be recruited as an idol like the second he walks on land because of his looks (SNL skit wuthering heights guy) and then do a music video where they spray water on him... because it would be fucking hysterical and you find out it only works for salt water... would work with Fish too, but theoretically Fish already knows how to be on land.... hmmmm stop copying yourself, lol... still....

a series of disconnected scenes with no overarching plot is not a series....maybe it just doesn't work to combine a mermaid movie with a not mermaid movie because they are both in water. it would make sense if the plot took place in the mermaid kingdom and the other one returned to land? if one was in the mermaid kingdom and the other was on land?.... ok....

so..... Fish saves Jo but resents her and as a result dumps her in the mermaid village for Carp the mermaid to keep track of? This is still dumb... but it's more balanced? is it...

*I'm going with the tagging thing. This just became the ABO mermaid because if anybody tags anybody people are going to think that anyways. But so far it's the only plot thing I can think of that might make it work.... maybe, I'm just wrong and should still just rewrite Splash but like, give him a goal?... so much easier

Ok... so this... Fish finds Love because he's a spy and he recognizes Love because he tagged love with some kind of marker as a child, lmao. Love is trying to prove mermaids are real because he fell in love with Fish as a child and is extremely stubborn and is also trying to prove he's not crazy. Love is married to Jo the only person who ever ignored his mermaid problem and told him to go prove it if he thought it was real. Now they are unhappily married and end up on this mermaid hunting expedition after Jo cheats Carp - who may or may not be a mermaid?.. anyways... or by coincidence has a fish name but is not a merman.... anyways, they hunt for Jo, fall in love all over again.. >Love comes to think that Fish is the person who rescued him but not know he's a mermaid, then CarpJo throw salt water on Fish after several failed attemps exposing Fish and then they all rescue Fish and escape as a group to the merkingdom and spend time there having some other kind of problem for half the series (but romantically? - this series lacks romance right now) and then the humans return to the human kindgom except for Love who stays to be FishLove. Somehow it's become Avatar, the second half would logically be teh merpeopel trying to fight off the greater human threat right...

Since it's based on a kdrama there has to be a lot of corporate manuvering and discussion about how owns how much of the company because that's central to all kdrama and cdrama plots in a way i've never seen in tdramas. so like, lovejo and third party (bad guy) own all the shares of a corporation and that's all super important to the plot as LoveJo lose ownership of the corporation halfway through and half to fight with their new love pairs to regain control of the corporation with Love ultimately hands over to CarpJo but then retains a share as the merpeople argue that it's also in their interest to have shares in the human world and reveal that they also own corporations - because what is a kdrama without corporate ownership being at stake? lmao None of this is excessively romantic

What does Love have to offer Fish if Fish is already a genius who familiar with human culture.. part of the joy of Splash is her not knowing anything, but I don't want to create a born yesterday character....

* just create lots of contrast between the characters (constant state of contrast?)

Jo turns and looks at Love. They are standing in the shadows of a large and quiet and what feels like empty part of a house, framed by the sunlight coming in from the doorway. Jo shivers. "Are you cold?". "Yes. It's cold here." Love starts to give her his jacket but she holds up her hand to stop him. She looks down. She looks middle and her eyes look towards the door. Then she looks up at him in at him. "Um thank you, but....". Love shakes his head a little and looks at her. She has an expression he hasn't seen on her face since she was a child. He hasn't heard her say "thank you" in twelve or fifteen years (depending on ages). "Please, can I go home now.", and she looks down shyly and her eyes again look through the sunlit door, "my family is waiting for me." "You're family?" Love says. "Yes, my family" she replies; and she smiles in a way he's never seen before, "There are so many of them, and they're messy and noisy; but they're mine". Love looks out the door too, and says, "Of course you can go." She silently beams for a quite moment, glances back into the large house,, nods politely and gives him a small, encouraging smile half smile. Then she turns away from him and walks out through the doorway into the sunlight. Love is left behind in the shadows of the house as he watches her go. He has a look on his face as she fades from view. Sooner or later Fish appears from the shadows to comfort him.. (the level of drama in this will probably be related to the surrounding story line).

*CarpJo finally manage to throw water on Fish and to everyone's amazement he turn into a mermaid; and it's very public. Upon seeing this Jo look and Love and get her memory back. She squeals/says in excitement/amazement. "It's a mermaid Love! A real mermaid! You were right. You were right all along, you're not crazy and everyone knows it now. Can you believe it!" She is overjoyed for him to have reached/overcome his/their biggest life goal for him; and of course it's magic, who wouldn't get their memory back upon seeing this. Love, on the other hand looks horrified because Fish has been gaslighting him this whole time? Or maybe horrified because he understands the threat to merfolk and had intended to make a private discovery not a public one, with his relatives (upon seeing the truth and of course) have vastly different plans in mind? or govt./scientific interference?

(* Why are LoveJo hunting mermaids at all? Why have I maid this a thing... couldn't they have just been hanging out - oh... Love needs substance for his own storyline.) Well, for whatever reason he is shocked and not thrilled like Jo is. Carp is... depending on his backround really surprised or less surprised than you might think? But also stunned that Jo is Love wife. (Or I could go to far with it and make Jo the descendent of the shine people who establish the fish monestary and turn into a mermaid! that would be awesome but dumb - because it's too big of a coincidence unless). Jo eventually registers that Love is less than thrilled. Cut to something else... or maybe Love is also taken by scientists/govt./evil relatives.

It's actually not letting me save anymore. I have to start a new wall but I'm afraid I'll get deleted and lose something. I have severe ADHD probably, someone said that to me once after observing me for awhile.

SO I think I figured out the fishlove problem to some degree. I thought I had to make some stuff happen with the little mermaid situation... but that's not what's important... what' important is the sacrifice... so

basically fish has been told his whole life that he will die from loving a human and the sea. if he tries to stay on land for the human he will eventually have to return to the sea/die, and if he returns to the sea without the human he will eventually die from his love for the human, because they are mermaids not humans and their hormones work differently (i guess - come on, i'm doing a lot here, let me not research something - anyways, some excuse for this like magic) but either way, he will die and this commonly happens to mermaids who fall in love with humans, which they keep records of and tell him about frequently as if repeating it all the time will save his life and make him fall out of love instead of turning him into a paranoid control freak who lies to everyone, which is what happened instead. So he's always secretly pursued love, but lied to everyone about it for a long time to spare himself from hearing about how they think he is going to die and he has become cynical as an outcome. this leads to him pretending (i hate to copy abo desire) to be a certain way when he meets fish (i hate to copy abo desire) and then being revealed only (unlike abo desire) to actually lose love's love and slowly start to actually die as a result because of fish magic/hormones. I guess merpeople are a one hit wonder type, they just fall in love immediately and forever and there is no escape for them, like rabbits they get extremely depressed, stop eating, and die without their loved one... they are social creatures... i'm just going to make their biology like underwater rabbits at this point since i'm running out of space in my brain... i don't want fish to lie to love and pretend to be someone else because of abo desire... but it's better than love lying to fish... hard to make fish actually naive, and .... creates a convenient opportunity for fish to die and be saved at the last minute by love (this is still dumb - dammit were all mermaid stories designed this way... is it me? should I just have given her a secondary goal in Splash like... being a chef?.... ruling a kingdom - no that's a straight underwater palace drama - becoming human? making him a mermaid? Splash worked because of things I might have missed... I could have shortened his intro... it all works except copying abo desire - he is lying for different reasons which is saving his people making this a merspy movie...but that's a problem if I'm doing ...see private notes

what if the mermaid loses his memory and gets tricked by love into being his housekeeper and then they fall in love and it's revealed that he's a merman... which would shock the hell out of him.... maybe I can't write?? why am i making a mermaid into a cynical liar? also why am I copying abo desire...

what if, instead of just turning into legs whenever on land, had to go to sea witch or through some obstacle to get legs?

Nut could be Love stepbrother who is a scientist who is the only member of his family who supported Love and treat him like real family. He do all the scientific marine biology type stuff to support his brother to the disaproval of the rest of his family because.... values, having values. Maybe his dad die and his mom marry Love dad and he was closer to his dad a man of strong moral value and less close to his mom a scheming bad person (as they often are) and resents his mom initially which is how he form bond with Love... wait, weren't they like brothers in ThamePo...fml.... this is because Nut study science at his college... well, nanotechnology... anyways he familiar with the practice of science labs so it's natural for him to just play the freaking scientist who actually inolved in putting Fish in a tank and so on.... I still want to do splash........ so they are not related... he just work for Love, but also don't take his shit... well, in the other one they are best friends in a band/idol group...either is probably fine whichever gives him the most screentime probably or if something else in the story needs it. Either way, Nut is now a scientist. He is in a romance with no one and instead ends up contributing to the rescue later and taking credit for some important discovery....

would they play mermaid discovery off as hoax or real thing and start like... ambassador culture...? This is like what I was going to do in pre-history but the chances of making that show are next to nothing. also this is not that show, i'm not going to lol, dive into a whole world building format where humans are ...seriously?.... discovering and establishing some kind of global relationship with mermaids... would humans even classify them as humans or animals... scientists would say it comes down the the breeding - I don't want to write a whole deal about this it reminds me of that one show but that's ireelevant it's just creating a serous fantasy world... what's the term for it blended thing.... like now we're having ministers and presidents and kinds send ambassadors to mer people and trying to .... it's robot revolutioning itself, I have to make it stop... I'm not writing a series of fantasy genre novels about this fml....................

should have done the little mermaid.... i'm not doing it, it's nothing but the robot revolution with the ocean instead of outer space would they try to eat them? classify them as animals? enslave them? or treat them like a fair and equal people? - depend on survival class/type warlike ability? perceived contribution? i mean... we're just retelling the history of the world at some point and it's a mermaid movie... this never happened before except with the whole robot uprising arc which nobody else connected that i know of so far... but it's basically the same and it's way too much writing..that's the big storytelling problem with discovery... in the 80s nobody had to think about this type of empire building structure.... this is sort of the natural arc if a mermaid were just... outed on a public street in front of reporters and scientists and the military at the same time... which is what happened in Splash.... or genocide, of course (possible outcomes of sudden mermaid discovery in our modern times)... this is all very un-fairytale like....

why is this some kind of logic deep dive. be shallow... just have them you know love at first sight and ice skating and love... be shallow......... right, they would have to play it off like a hoax because I'm not doing all that world building. Focus on the romance not the world building....

Basically mermaids just exist because lonely sailors want to feel less lonely when at sea but then tend to immediately discard them when on land (as the general sayings seem to go)

I don't have time to do an insane amount of world building about what would happen if people discovered mermaids in real life, they would be 50.

Ok, so it would be funny (finally) if they mirror each other personalities. So Fish would be the one who worry about the future all the time. (William always have a look on his face like he thinking more about the future than the present moment unless he with Est - this is based on like the two hours total of actual screen time I've seen of them); and Love would be - (need to actually study Est more as a person instead of as a couple) - reserved, polite, and soft (as opposed to me who would be hard - fights with everyone to get my way all the time)

I might be too tired to watch footage of Est? He look like a greek statue.. I don't find him attractive - I understand that objectively he is attractive and I always laugh about it because somehow it's hysterical that I'm not attracted to him when he looks like that? Or like I can't see it but I realize it's there kind of thing.. feels weird... like looking at someone who would be my brother... William tends to look like he's in his head most of the time... can't actually have them mirror each other, they are real people and that could be rude... still, it would be funny.... how can I find out who he is without watching footage of him... ask people? i guess read comments or research his bio.... strikes me as... rich guy - refined manners not an asshole generally to people... doesn't feel the need to validate himself - comes from internal structure - sort of can self illuminate in terms of being a whole and healthy person - he's a celebrity though too so... . obviously loves the water a lot - why does he like the water so much? not my thing, good for him.... that's what I should find out - why does he like the water so much. probably don't take this for granted.

So priest of religion or sea witch (you're the sea witch? - person who was there all along) explain that one time in their life a mermaid can give a human a (thing that is a piece of themselves but not an actual body part like those pearls of life that they are always passing around in cdramas about gods) once in their lives and after giving it to them if the human stops loving them they will die - this is a common theme in mermaid mythology... and if they try to live on land with the human they will eventually be forced back to the sea by their own nature and will still die without the human? - either way, it's bad and very risky to do for the mefolk - obvi the magic thing give human power to breath underwater - mermaid of who took human singer.... mermaids tend to fall in love with humans who are great singers - based on actual mythology...so Fish hear Love singing and fall in love with him right before he falls off boat (similar to how humans fall for psiren songs and crash their ships) and anyways, throw himself into danger for the human he loves (does he then cynically lie about it as oppossed to Love who just tell everyone with the naivete only he can possess?)

So.... I've been wanting to say something for a long time.... and I haven't been able to say it, but now I know how to: I have a hard time writing a love story because of how people treat each other in real life. Which is to say that people try to force each other to do what they want a lot, when it's not an emergency, and I find this unhealthy. In fact, I'm afraid of being in a relationship because I'm afraid of being around someone all the time and that they will use that time to tell me that how I think and feel is wrong and that I should think and feel as they tell me to; and that I am hurting others with how I think and feel. No what I do. Not what I say. How I think and feel. And I realize people have told me this my whole life. Someone is telling me this very thing now on the boyslove forum which I am likely to get banned from in the near future along with my reddit account. I get upset when people tell me how that I don't understand how I think and feel and that what I think and feel is wrong and that I should "change" or "heal" or "get better" or any of those terms that means something is wrong with me. If it's not ok to tell gay men that loving other men is wrong and that they need therapy and should "get better" why is it ok to say to me because I love a man who doesn't love me back? I feel so othered by society generally that I just choose not to engage in society. And that includes building a life with someone. I don't actually want to spend the rest of my life pretending to be who someone wants me to be.

Maybe I should not write a mermaid love story.
